Coastal Florida is great if you are of a certain age— it's quiet, there's plenty of space, the pace is slow and the cost of living is easily a fraction of your pension. However, as a child, it is hard to get around, the businesses are (or were) a few decades behind the rest of the country, and there are few children. Fortunately when I became a pre-teen computers were nearing ubiquity, though broadband was not, and so I interacted with my glowing friend.
